Technology Workshop
The Technology workshop was completed to provide teachers with technology-based professional learning which integrates technology to support teaching and learning. Through the development and implementation of this project, teachers were able to learn about Class Dojo and its benefits. The Class Dojo website helps teachers implement a system that provides the necessary tools to assist with classroom management skills while providing an increase in communication with students and their parents or guardians. I presented a variety of resources for teachers to use when getting started with Class Dojo.
Through the development and implementation of this Technology Workshop artifact, I had the opportunity to facilitate a professional learning workshop over Class Dojo for teachers. I created a website for the teachers that attended the workshop. Within the site, I provided information on Class Dojo and tutorial videos. Also, I presented a presentation that included an overview of Class Dojo. Class Dojo is a free online educational app, which assists in building amazing classroom and school communities. Class Dojo is an online tool that allows teachers to provide students with feedback and help them monitor their behavior.
The design process of this Class Dojo artifact helped me facilitate and engage in appropriate field experience to synthesize and apply the content and professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions identified in these standards. Before planning the technology workshop, I asked my principal did he have anything specific that he would like the teachers to learn and implement in the classroom. It is essential to speak with the administration staff and teachers to see if there are any digital resources and tools they would like to learn that will address the school or teachers’ personal goals and vision and possibly implement them into their practices. I believe that speaking with teachers and administrations assists in planning a learning opportunity that will be meaningful and beneficial to the learning environment.
Additionally, I have a clearer understanding of what it takes to create a technology-related workshop, which promotes best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment. Also, I learned to use free websites that align with professional learning standards. I learned that Class Dojo is a free website and is also on the approved technology resource website for teachers to use with their students. I learned that Class Dojo is a trusted website that protects the confidentiality of students. Class Dojo is a trusted website, and I learned that it is on my school system approved website list. Class Dojo is a great classroom management tool and an excellent communication resource to use with parents. Parents or guardians have the opportunity to check their students’ behavior and progress daily and keep up with class events.
Although this Technology Workshop cannot be assessed, it had a significant impact on teacher’s professional practices. The teachers that attended the workshop were elated with implementing Class Dojo into their practices. Class Dojo meets the communication standard that teachers must effectively address concerning parent communication. Class Dojo has an impact on student engagement and behavior as it is a classroom management tool. After observing and reflecting on Class Dojo, students are very comfortable with the resource and enjoy using the site.
