I have learned a lot about instructional technology during this ITEC 7400 summer course with Dr. Jin. During this course, I learned about Indicators of Instruction and Level of Technology Integration (LoTi). Indicators of Instruction are learning indicators that teachers implement in their lessons to promote engagement, empowerment, deep understanding retention and transfer of knowledge amongst students. Teachers use these learning indicators when creating a technology integrated lesson. LoTi levels are used to assess the effectiveness of technology use in teachers’ lessons. I learned that the more learning indicators that are evident in lessons, the higher the task LoTi level will be. I enjoyed watching videos of teachers implementing technology in their classroom and having to critique their lessons detailing which learning indicators I thought were present and if any were missing discussing which one. Also, while watching the videos, I scored the teacher's lesson by using the LoTi flow chart to rate their LoTi level. These tasks provided me with the skill knowledge to create my own technology integrated lesson.
While creating the engaged learning project I was able to put my knowledge of LoTi levels and learning indicators to use to create a technology integrated level that scored a high level. I was able to provide feedback to some of my peers to offer suggestions of how they could increase their engaged learning level project and also introduce me to technology coaching skills. This project also helped meet some of the ISTE-C Standards. Some of the standards that I was able to meet were the teaching, learning and assessments because I was able to assist teachers in using technology effectively by providing feedback on their engaged learning project to help them develop an effective lesson that assesses students learning, differentiating instruction, and provide challenging, relevant, and engaging learning experiences for students. Overall, I am feeling excited to becoming a technology coach. This course has expanded my thinking and knowledge concerning technology in the classroom. I look forward to learning much more to improve my craft. However, I do not have any questions at this point. Again, I enjoyed this class although this semester went by quickly and Dr. Yi Jin is such an amazing professor, and she facilitated this course well. |
