During this course, I learned a lot about myself concerning being a technology leader in my school. My school district has a technology plan, but my school does not. I teach at an alternative school in our district, which is considered a program. Although there is not a set technology plan for my school, our school has Chromebooks for students to complete their online courses. I learned so much while completing the technology planning project. I enjoyed creating and writing a shared vision for the school. Not only the shared vision, but the SWOT analysis and the action plan was also enjoyable. I was excited about speaking with my colleagues concerning and learning their insight about technology and what types of technology-enhanced professional learnings they would want to see. Also, the technology project taught me to evaluate plans and how to make improvements when needed effectively. The technology integration grant application was a challenge for me to complete. It took me a while to get my thoughts together for this assignment, but I was able to complete the assignment. The Technology Integration Grant Application assignment helped me understand and gain the confidence of believing in myself and never giving up. I was able to write a grant over a technology resource that will benefit all students, no matter their learning disabilities.
Lastly, I use the RSS feed “Feedly” to stay current with instructional technology trends for the classroom. I check Feedly approximately two to three times a week. I look for new technology resources and tools that I believe would be beneficial to my students learning and incorporate them into my classroom. Since my student’s courses are online, I have created an online and blended learning environment for my students. The current technology trends, resources, and tools that I learn from Feedly help me to provide an online and blended learning environment to students that promote student-centered learning, student engagement, creativity, and the use of higher order thinking skills.
